With it’s bustling and modern metropolis cities of Shanghai and Beijing, it’s great mixture of ethnic minorities, it’s stunning architectural marvels, a rich artistic heritage and civilization dating back thousands of years, China has long been a favorite destination among our travelers. Your journey may take you all the way from China’s ancient center of power, the Forbidden City, to the winding valleys of Lijiang, bordering the Tibetan plateau and home to the Naxi people, on to the desert oasis town of Kashgar with its famed Sunday Market and down the shores of the legendary Yangtze River.

Since it is almost impossible to combine all of China’s riches in one trip, our individual itineraries are designed to offer a lasting impression of the many highlights of this vast country and its diverse culture and ravishing landscape.

We recommend you begin your trip in Beijing or Shanghai. Both cities offer a kaleidoscope of things to see and do… historical sites, a cutting edge contemporary art scene, sophisticated restaurants and fun shopping. During your next few stops, leave modern China behind and explore the cultures and architecture of the minority people in the Yunnan Province or journey across the Taklaman Desert, following the steps of the ancient Silk Road to the frontier town of Kashgar all the way to the ancient Buddhist caves at Dunhuang.

For a “less adventurous” route, you may chose destinations such as Guilin with its famed Li River, an inspiration to thousands of Chinese scroll paintings or the beautifully preserved grave site of the Terracotta Warriors in Xian.

When traveling in China, you will be accompanied by an English speaking guide and a private driver throughout. Deluxe accommodations are available in all the major cities. Itineraries designed for private tours range in length from one week which covers the main cultural and historical highlights to a month which will include excursions along the Silk Road and into Yunnan Province.
