A nostalgic traveler once said “on every map there are names that possess deep mystery.” There is no place like Southeast Asia that carries the allure and conjures up images of magical and mysterious places. Thailand enchants us as the Land of Smiles. Laos is considered by many to be the last Shangri-La and the Kingdom of Cambodia is home to the temples of Angkor, once redolent with incense and prayer, lost beneath the sands of time only to be re-discovered at the opening of the last century.
This journey will begin in Bangkok before we fly to Ubon Rachathani and continue overland to cross the border into Southern Laos, an area where the Mekong River is wide and dotted with thousands of small islands and coffee plantations. We will travel by boat to explore some of the small fisherman villages, the waterfalls and, as we cross the border into Cambodia we will visit some of the local Cham houses and pre-Angkorian sites.
Our trip will conclude with a stay in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital city before we drive to Siem Reap where we will have a chance to explore Indochina’s most magnificent site, the amazing Temples of Angkor.
* Please note that we would be happy to arrange a private extension to Luang Prabang at the end of the trip. There are daily flights between Siem Reap and Luang Prabang.
The trip price of $ 4,750 includes accommodations in double occupancy, domestic flight within Thailand, breakfast daily, all entrance fees and sightseeing, service of local English speaking guides, service of a tour leader throughout, all transportation and transfers. International airfare into Bangkok and out of Siem Reap is not included. (Single room supplement: $ 1,345)
