Sample Itinerary
Day 1. Luang Prabang. Arrive in Luang Prabang, often referred to as the Shangri-La of Southeast Asia.
Day 2. Luang Prabang. Witness the morning alms giving walk before driving outside of Luang Prabang to see Kuangsi Waterfall and the Buffalo Dairy Farm. In the late afternoon set out on a short climb up to the top of Phousi Hill for beautiful sunset views.
Day 3. Luang Prabang. Explore the lush countryside jungle during a leisurely morning jungle walk. Return to the city for some free time and later on visit the bustling Night Market.
Day 4. Luang Prabang. Travel by private boat along the Nam Ou River to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves where as many as 6,000 Buddha statues are housed. Set out on a cycling tour through the sleepy villages surrounding Luang Prabang and enjoy the opportunity to interact with the locals and taste some traditional sticky rice and sugarcane juice.
Day 5. Champassak/4000 Islands. Fly to Pakse, located in Southern Laos and visit the Bolovan Plateau known for its waterfalls and far-reaching coffee and tea plantations.
Day 6. Champassak/4000 Islands. Spend a day on the river kayaking between some of the small islands including a picnic lunch prepared by a local island family.
Day 7. Champassak/4000 Islands. Travel by private boat to Don Khone Island and explore the island by bicycle, traveling through rice paddies, organic gardens, along the old narrow railway built by the French and hidden waterfalls.
Day 8. Bangkok. This morning, make your way by car to the ruins of Wat Phu, an ancient Khmer temple complex that predates Angkor. Cross the border into Thailand and catch a short flight to Bangkok from Ubon Ratchathani.
